Triumph Factory Racing’s Camden McLellan has won round two of the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship in Spain.
The South African secured his and Triumph’s maiden Grand Prix victory aboard the TF 250-X in dramatic fashion, as he chased home race one winner and teammate Guillem Farres in moto one, before charging to victory in race two. Camden now leads the MX2 World Championship with Farres close behind in third.
In only the British manufacturer’s third season of competition, the Triumph Factory Racing team is celebrating its first victory, having enjoyed podium finishes in year one, race wins in year two, and a Grand Prix overall this weekend – the second outing on the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship calendar. The Spanish circuit in Almonte was a new addition to the schedule, and despite having no prior experience at the venue, both riders adapted quickly, with Camden charging to second in the qualifying race while Guillem finished third.
The opening MX2 race in Spain was undoubtedly the most exciting one of the season so far. From starting just outside the top five, Camden worked his way onto the back wheel of Farres by mid-race. The duo then delivered a masterclass in sand riding while battling for the lead, as they broke away from the chasing pack. Ultimately, McLellan was unable to find a way by his teammate and finished in second, making it a Triumph 1-2.
Camden took advantage of a much-improved start in race two and emerged from the first turn in third. Biding his time as the two leaders set the pace, the 21-year-old began his charge around the halfway point of the race and took control at the front with six laps remaining. From there, McLellan maintained his margin at the front of the field to pick up his second ever moto win and with it, overall victory.
Farres also played a large part in the team’s success in Spain. Racing his home Grand Prix in front of thousands of passionate fans couldn’t have gone any better in moto one as he led almost every lap to the cheers of the crowd. Sadly, a rare technical issue in race two ruled him out of contention for securing what may well have been a double podium result for the team. On the day, Guillem placed ninth overall, and sits third in the standings thanks to his exceptional performances so far this season.
In the MXGP class, Dirt Store Triumph Racing’s Ben Watson delivered the best moto result for the brand with eighth in race one aboard the TF 450-X. In the same weekend Triumph Factory Racing’s Jordon Smith secured Triumph’s first top ten in AMA Supercross, taking ninth in the main event with the TF 450-X.
Guillem Farres added: “Overall, it was a really strong weekend for me. After free practice we made some changes to the bike that made a big difference, and from there I had a good feeling, finishing fifth in time practice and then third in the qualifying race, which gave me a strong gate pick for Sunday. In the first moto I got a good start, quickly moved into second, and after the leader went down, I was able to take over and control the race to the finish. It was a great feeling to win and to be battling with the front guys all the way. Unfortunately, in the second moto we had a small issue that led to a DNF, which is part of racing, but it was a bit frustrating as I felt like we had the chance to leave with the red plate and a solid points lead. Still, there are a lot of positives to take, and I’m happy to be in a position to fight in the championship. Now the focus is on bouncing back in Switzerland and keeping the momentum going.”

Of course, there are mixed emotions. I feel very sorry for Guillem, as I believe we had the potential for a double podium, but a technical issue cost us that result. At the same time, achieving our first Grand Prix win as a manufacturer and taking the red plate is a huge milestone for Triumph. To be leading the MX2 World Championship at this stage is something everyone in the team can be proud of. However, it’s only the second round, so we need to stay grounded, keep working hard, and continue improving in the areas where we know we can be better.”
